       Kenroku-en Garden

Kenroku-en Garden is well-known as one of the three most beautiful Japanese landscape gardens in Japan. With an astounding 12,000 trees of more than 150 varieties, all of which exist in beautiful harmony with the garden's array of flowers, stones, meandering paths and crystal-clear streams, Kenroku-en is a perfect example of how natural scenary is reproduced in a traditional Japanese garden. A visit to Kanazawa is not to be completed without experiencing Kenroku-en.

                Kaga-yuzen

Miyazaki Yuzensai (1650-1736), a late-11th-century fan painter, introduced the textile dyeing method to Kanazawa during the Edo Period. The themes used in Kaga-yuzen are flowers, birds, plants, and landscapes. Kaga-yuzen is famous for its realistic rendering of nature.
With a long and colourful history, Kanazawa has been making, creating, and dyeing silk used for kimonos for centuries. With its intricate patterns and vibrant colours, Kanazawa's Kaga-yuzen rivals that of Kyoto for "the best in Japan".

            Higashichaya District

Narrow, winding streets lined with traditional houses and their latticed windows, this is the heart of Kanazawa: "Higashiyama". Higashi Geisha District still preserves an aspect of the Kanazawa of feudal times, expressing the picturesque atmosphere of the wooden lattice fronts of old geisha houses. Much old architecture is lovingly preserved by the people who live and entertain here. And, with some luck, one may have the chance to meet a geisha.

                  Nagamachi

Nagamachi, one of the most well preserved historical areas of Kanazawa, maintains the old castle-town atmosphere from years past. With its earthen walls and picturesque canals, it remains much like it did during the Maeda's rule - when it was the residential area of the local samurai. This area, with its serenity and antiquity, greatly contrasts nearby Korinbo and Katamachi, the main areas of business and entertainment in Kanazawa.
